Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by eczematous lesions and intense pruritus, which often has a profound impact on daily activities and quality of life of patients and their families.
In this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, sublingual immunotherapy with house dust mite extract showed efficacy in improving the signs and symptoms of atopic dermatitis in mitesensitized patients after 18 months of treatment, as judged by SCORing Atopic Dermatitis tools, with no major adverse effects.
